black and white

black and white surrounds windows of color reflection
although these initially appear to be done in black and white, color is apparent on closer inspection... didn't really see that when i was taking the photographs, but i enjoyed the discovery when viewing them later

view from the pier

a beautiful day on the Potomac... in the distance is historic Leesylvania, birthplace and home of "Light-Horse Harry" Lee (father of Robert E.)
addendum: you know, i really couldn't think of the best way to comment on this photo. honestly, i posted it because of the opposing textures and colors. i love the contrast of the white and scarlet cracked vinyl overlayed by the loops of rope and the timber frame of the pier. the lovely background was the icing on the cake. :-)

superficial

deliciously superficial, the fashion of men's wigs was inadvertantly instituted by a prematurely bald Louis XIII in the early 17th century. the trend continued in a variety of forms and waves (no pun intended) through the late 18th century in europe and the american colonies until the downcast french aristocracy and britain's exorbitant tax on hair powder caused the demise of the peruke maker's business.
