Today I was playing around with Corey Barker's Retro Text Tutorial at PlanetPhotoshop. My favorite tutorials are those which are useful beyond the intended end result. I don't expect to have a need for 60s Flower Power Posters (never say never), but Corey uses numerous techniques which are relevant to all kinds of projects. I must warn you, though, that Corey is a FAST talker so be prepared to hit pause throughout. ;-)
Some of the techniques included in this tutorial are working with text as a working path, smart filters (smart objects applied only to the filter), warp, and various filters.

This is a helpful action in creating shapes with repeating/rotating placement (think Spirograph, sun rays, flowers, etc.) in Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign.
